After being in the hills of Picton for almost 5 hours, I was already strongly wishing I could sit for longer. And such pleasure was provided to me by a transportation company with the interesting name of Nakedbus. The name is so "borderline foul" that one US hosting provider abruptly banned me by IP just for trying to write that word on a New Zealand forum 🙂

So, uh. ahead of me was to enjoy the views of New Zealand from the windows of a naked bus for 6 hours. I can tolerate such long sit-ups easily enough, so I wasn't even worried. In fact, it turned out that on the way the views were so enchanting that I forgot to realize that it was practically pointless to take photos from the bus window, and shot the whole way without stopping. In 6 hours about 180 frames were accumulated, of which 30 and a penny were more or less suitable for publication.

- the views were stunning

- the recent rain added some colors

- although the rain didn’t add any color to the swamps 🙁

- some military museum, we drove past it

- looks very similar to the Altai Chumysh 🙂

- either a vineyard or a kiwi plantation
I tried to look up on the internet what a vineyard and a kiwifruit orchard look like, it turned out to be almost identical, so I can’t judge what actually grows there.

- some well-maintained bushes

- Cherry Bank - you give us money, we give you cherries

- arrived in Blenheim

- picked up more passengers

- and went further

- a small winery

- the road is laid out intricately

- the mountains are getting higher, the slopes steeper...

- arrived in Kaikoura
Kaikoura is a small town where almost all buses stop. There are so many different cafes and eateries on the main road.

- 3 seagulls reserving parking spots for ‘their own’ 🙂

- intricately designed shores

- couldn’t walk past, it asked me to take a photo...

- the shore, however, of the Pacific Ocean!
Another attraction of Kaikoura is the shore of the Pacific Ocean, on the other side of which, across 8,500 kilometers of water will be Argentina.

- some mountains in the distance, Google didn’t help 🙁

- Google knows this one, it's Mount Manakau

- the views keep getting more and more breathtaking

- looks like a Windows XP wallpaper

- free advertising space
We arrived in Christchurch already in the evening at 19:30, it was dark to take pictures….. and unexpectedly cold. 🙂 On the way to the hostel I took pictures of only the most interesting things. The drive was unexpectedly long because the city center is all blocked off after the devastating earthquake in February 2011. Before the earthquake, Christchurch was one of New Zealand’s most beautiful cities, with architecture preserved since the city was formed in 1848.

- Christchurch, dyslexia support fund

- very cool bent letters above the flower bed
I was so struck by the environment of this foundation that I went to read what this disease is and what the foundation does. In dyslexia a person cannot perceive written text, that is why the foundation, besides helping sick people, is also engaged in speech synthesis technologies and production of audiobooks.

- thursty for gas? 🙂

- gallery of modern art

- HSBC bank building and the city administration on the right

- some celebration at the administration, everyone was walking barefoot... with flowers o_O
Note the barefoot aunt…. That said, I didn’t take a lot of pictures walking through the city because my fingers were freezing, it was about +8 Celsius outside.

- the Avon River is an endless source of material for the namesake cosmetics 🙂

- chestnut trees in bloom

- marked where I’ll be leaving from in 36 hours
