It's good to be an adult 🙂 You can fulfill your children's wishes without too much stress.…

Ever since the days of the ZX Spectrum I've had a big crush on demo-making, I even accumulated some and wrote a couple dozen tracks of music. Back then, in 1991-1994, we had no idea that there were some demo-parties and that people were competing there to see who could crack the code the best. But, a little later, when I had already moved to PC I was wildly eager to get to the demo party. We even organized local hangouts in Novosibirsk Crazy Syberian Party, but all that was not the same. We should have gotten to Assembly — the largest demoparty in the world, held annually in Finland. Well, here we are 🙂

- Hartwall Arena is the largest indoor stadium in Helsinki
- a whole stadium of computers!
- most people are gaming
- Pac-Man inside
- Minecraft will get you
- our team at Assembly 🙂
- veteran demoparty hat
- people watching a live stream of some StarCraft battle
- a separate hall for gamers
- later they played Need for Speed on 6 monitors
- from the whole Kebu concert, my best shot was of the camera operator 🙂
- Kebu working his magic
- we slept in the shower booths
- had breakfast on iron furniture
- the road to Hartwall Arena looks a lot like Half-Life
- like real-life Half-Life scenery o_O

- morning of the second day...
- people didn’t really bother with proper sleeping arrangements
- in the morning, there were robot battles
- the goal of the battle is to push your opponent into a hole
- no sleeping here!
- Angry Birds were created by Finns, so birds and pigs are everywhere
- a classic demoscene competition - who can stack the highest pile of floppy disks
